      It seems that the research in this field is limited and studies should focus on the role of TL1 A in Th17 priming to uncover the mechanisms involved in AS pathogenesis. The gene encoding TNF is located within the class III region of the MHC, close to the HLA-B locus [99]. Among the mechanisms that regulate the expression of TNF gene, are several polymorphisms within the promoter region.
