Survival effect of pretreatment FDG-PET–CT on nasopharyngeal cancer
2023, Journal of the Formosan Medical AssociationCitation Excerpt :Although NPC is rare in most parts of the world, it is endemic in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan, where undifferentiated, nonkeratinizing squamous cell carcinoma is the predominant histology.4–6 The World Health Organization (WHO) classifies NPC into three histopathologic types.7 The endemic form of NPC is commonly the undifferentiated, nonkeratinizing subtype (WHO type III); this is strongly associated with Epstein–Barr virus and has a more favorable prognosis than other types.8
