2019, Experimental NeurologyCitation Excerpt :Unfortunately, NMDARs play an important role in neural circuit rebuilding. NMDA receptor antagonists exhibit good analgesic effects in animal models, but clinical applications are limited because they have significant side effects [Chaplan et al., 1997; Mao et al., 1993; Ren and Dubner, 1993]. PSD-95 is a scaffolding protein, that binds both NMDARs 2B subunits (NR2B) and neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS).
Peripheral GABA <inf>A</inf> receptor-mediated signaling facilitates persistent inflammatory hypersensitivity
2018, NeuropharmacologyCitation Excerpt :Our results suggest that peripheral GABAAR-mediated nociceptive signaling has a crucial role in persistent inflammatory hypersensitivity. It has been demonstrated that CFA produces a valid persistent inflammation in rodents, thus leading to increased stimulus-evoked pain hypersensitivity (Gao et al., 2010; Ren, 1999; Ren and Dubner, 1993). Even though spontaneous pain may be a more significant clinical issue for patients than stimulus-evoked pain (for review, see Mogil, 2009; Vierck et al., 2008), little is known as to whether the non-evoked ongoing pain is present in the CFA-induced inflammatory pain model.
