Breast angiosarcoma after primary breast cancer surgery: A systematic review
2022, Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic SurgeryCitation Excerpt :In total, 304 studies or reports were identified using the preset keywords defined in the study protocol. Of those, 201,4-22 were included in the review. The PRISMA-based study flow of the searches is presented in Figure 1.
Angiosarcoma arising in the non-operated, sclerosing breast after primary irradiation, surviving 6 years post-resection: A case report and review of the Japanese literature
2016, International Journal of Surgery Case ReportsCitation Excerpt :Each showed only fibrosis and inflammatory changes. Wijnmaalen et al. reported background breast tissue inflammation caused by radiation in 8 cases of angiosarcoma, also finding fibrosis in 7 (88%) [10]. When angiosarcoma occurs against such a background, correct diagnosis may be difficult.
Radiation-induced breast angiosarcoma following breast-conserving therapy. Report of two cases
2010, Gynecologie Obstetrique et FertiliteAngiosarcoma after conservation treatment for breast carcinoma: Our experience and a review of the literature
2006, Journal of the American Academy of DermatologyCitation Excerpt :Therefore the incidence of angiosarcoma may be as high as 0.14 % in our patient population. The results in the current study regarding the delay between treatment of the breast cancer and diagnosis of the angiosarcoma, age of the patients at onset of the angiosarcoma, time to local relapse and survival, concur with the majority of reported series with a minimum of 3 cases (Table IV).20-22 All the authors emphasize that post-BCT angiosarcoma must be suspected early and patients must be subjected to mastectomy, radical mastectomy, or chest wall resection to provide for wide-margin.
