Diagnosis and emergency surgical management of stercoral colitis-induced colonic ischemia: A case report and literature review
2023, International Journal of Surgery Case ReportsTwists and turns in acute abdomen: imaging spectrum of torsions and volvulus
2022, Clinical ImagingCitation Excerpt :CT findings of closed loop bowel obstruction include enlarged, stretched mesenteric vessels in a radial distribution converging towards the point of torsion, beak-shaped configuration of the dilated loops towards the obstruction, U-shaped configuration of the abnormal bowel loops on cross-sectional imaging and ‘whirl sign’ with twisting of the mesenteric vessels around the point of obstruction (Fig. 6).25 CT features of bowel ischemia include mural thickening, target sign with alternating layers of hypo and hyper enhancing bowel wall, intramural hyperdensity representing hemorrhage, non -enhancing or rarely hyper enhancing bowel wall and mesenteric fat stranding.23 The bowel wall shows mural thinning instead of thickening in advanced cases with bowel necrosis.26
