Microvessel density has also been reported to be associated with the clinical response to chemotherapy [13-15]. The most widely used technique for evaluating angiogenesis is immunohistochemistry for full-face tissue sections with anti-CD31+ and anti-CD34+ antibodies to a glycoprotein that is present in hematopoietic progenitor cells and endothelial cells [16,17].
