2022, Rheumatic Disease Clinics of North AmericaCitation Excerpt :Three percent and 11% of men and women, respectively, ages 15 to 19, report a sexual experience with the same-sex partner.12 Although presumed to be sexually inactive or disinterested, neither chronic illness nor physical disability hampers one’s sexual activity; adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients are as sexually active as their peers.13,14 This bias, however, limits the sexual education this population receives from medical providers.15
