Abstract

The use of Weibull analysis enables fracture probability to be calculated as a function of applied stress. This distribution may be more applicable to the evaluation of biomaterials and devices than the more commonly used normal distribution since it takes due account of the high and low stress ‘tails’ of the distribution. The value of Weibull Modulus, which can be calculated from a test group of specimens, enables the ‘dependability’ of a material to be evaluated numerically.
