The mechanical application of SC described herein should further alleviate the burden on caregivers. Combinations of SC have been applied at a single site [7]. Here, we ranked combinations of SC at multiple sites and found that 28 of them significantly decreased pressure at the sacral region, which is susceptible to the development of pressure ulcers.

2016, Journal of the American Medical Directors Association
    Citation Excerpt :

Although repositioning is advocated in the international best practice, confusion exists about the frequency and exact method of repositioning required. Eight trials studied the effect of different repositioning methods for PU prevention (7 RCTs74–80 and 1 CCT81). However, the intervention and study design were very heterogeneous and precluded proper comparisons.

It is advocated as international best practice, but confusion exists about the frequency and exact method of repositioning required. Eight trials studied the effect of different repositioning methods for PU prevention (7 RCTs [31–37] and 1 CCT [38]) in older subjects with a number of subjects ranging from 15 to 967. However, the intervention and study design were heterogeneous and precluded proper comparisons, no pooled analysis could be performed.
