Woake's syndrome. A case report in a teenager

Summary

Woake's syndrome was described for the first time in the European literature in 1885 and features necrotic ethmoiditis, nose broadening due to polyps in early childhood, frontal sinus aplasia, bronchiectasis and production of highly viscous mucus (dyscrinia). A case is reported and the literature is reviewed.

    The facial deformity of Woakes’ syndrome involved the nasal and facial bones and nasal cartilaginous tissue. In severe cases, excessive prominence of the malar region and orbital hypertelorism have been reported [10]. Our patient had broadening of the nose and excessive prominence of the malar regions without orbital hypertelorism.
