Significance of spirometry in diabetic patients
2010, International Journal of Diabetes MellitusCitation Excerpt :They hypothesize that impaired glucose auto-regulation is associated with impaired lung function. Asanuma et al. [20], Lange et al. [21] and Boulbou et al. [22], have reported that FVC and FEV1 are reduced in diabetic subjects, as compared to the control subjects. Similarly, Cazzato et al. [23], conducted a cross-sectional study to assess pulmonary function in children with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM), and reported that FVC and FEV1 were significantly lower in diabetics than in controls.
