Glucagon increases intracellular levels of cyclic AMP and has been effective in treating human cases of calcium channel blocker toxicities [69–71]. A systematic review of use of glucagon in animal models of beta-blocker and calcium channel blocker toxicity indicates that glucagon does not improve survival [72].
