2015, Journal of Psychosomatic ResearchCitation Excerpt :For example, stressful life events, psychiatric morbidity or other psychosocial factors particularly those occurring at the first three decades of participants’ lives, may have influenced both SOC and mortality. Indeed, previous research has shown that socioeconomic and psychosocial circumstances influence SOC including family economic status and education, social support and neighbourhood cohesion, a good quality of home care and child-centred parenting and adverse life events [5–9]. In conclusion, there is strong evidence that SOC is associated with 22-year all-cause mortality above and beyond potential confounding factors and established risk factors.
