Innervation and vascular supply of the first dorsal interosseous muscle and palmar interosseous muscle of the index: An anatomic descriptive study
2021, MorphologieCitation Excerpt :The DBUN arises from the ulnar nerve when it passes through the Guyon canal. After exiting the canal, it takes a convex path distally as it passes under the pisohamate arcade where the insertion of the flexor digiti minimi brevis and opponens digiti minimi muscles can be found, and follows the deep palmar arch arising from the DBUN and joining the radial artery [3,10,11,17]. Anatomical variations of the DBUN can include: a neural loop around the hook of hamate [17,24,25] and an anastomosis with the thenar branch of the median nerve, also known as a Riché-Cannieu anastomosis [11,26–29].
A novel method for in-vivo evaluation of finger kinematics including definition of healthy motion patterns
2016, Clinical BiomechanicsCitation Excerpt :Differences were observed for the other DoF (i.e. X- and Y-axes). Combined motions reported in this paper, mainly for FIV and FV, are in agreement with past observations reporting finger convergence towards the hand axis (FIII) due to intrinsic muscle actions (Bonnel, 1983; Revol and Servant, 2008). MCP combined displacements enable the first and third phalanges to converge towards the hand functional axis (i.e., FIII) during flexion; the same mechanism was observed at PIP level although reduced in amplitude (Fig. 3).
