Body mass index and glycemic control influence lipoproteins in children with type 1 diabetes
2016, Journal of Clinical LipidologyCitation Excerpt :The current practice guidelines for screening and clinical management of dyslipidemia in T1DM12,13 are based on standard lipid profile measurement, not lipoprotein measurements. Tracking from childhood to adulthood for many CVD risk factors is common,14,15 yet very few studies have evaluated lipid profiles in the pediatric population, and even fewer in the T1DM pediatric population.16–18 Of those that have been completed, it has been shown that patients with T1DM may present with low HDL cholesterol levels, high total cholesterol (TC), or with abnormal HDL/TC composition.19,20
Prevalence and factors associated with the co-occurrence of health risk behaviors in adolescents
2015, Revista Paulista de PediatriaCitation Excerpt :Over the past decades, exposure to health risk behaviors has become one of the most widely investigated subjects in studies with young populations.1,2 The interest in investigations focusing on this subject can be explained, at least in part, by the fact that such behaviors can be established and incorporated into the lifestyle at an early age,3,4 and due to their connection with biological risk factors5 and the presence of established metabolic or cardiovascular disease (CVD).6 The prevalence of co-occurrence of health risk behaviors in adolescents has been described in several studies.7–17
