IL-6 is a potent proinflammatory cytokine that has previously been associated with human allergic reactions and has been observed to correlate with the extent of erythema and to be inversely related to mean arterial pressure.19 In our study, elevated levels of IL-6 correlated strongly with the occurrence of hypotension.
