2021, Pregnancy HypertensionCitation Excerpt :Several studies reported that ART pregnancies are at increased risk of adverse maternal and fetal outcomes, mainly because of the increased number of multiple gestations.[3–5] However, it has been stated that also singletons pregnancies obtained by ART are associated with adverse obstetric outcomes, such as hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP), gestational diabetes mellitus, placenta previa, placental abruption, preterm birth and low birthweight. [6–10] In particular, the risk of HDP is reported to increase of around 30% in singleton ART pregnancies.[6]
