Internal Fixation After Subtrochanteric Femoral Fracture After Hip Resurfacing Arthroplasty
2010, Journal of ArthroplastyCitation Excerpt :The choice of fixation largely depends on surgical preference and supposes that the existing femoral implant has not been loosened by the fracture. Subcapital hip fractures after hip resurfacing have also been treated by conservative management or by revision and conversion to a total hip arthroplasty often with the use of an extra large metal femoral head [1-5,8-10,15-17]. There has however to our knowledge been only one reported case of surgical management of an intratrochanteric fracture beneath the resurfacing, and in this case, a locked intramedullary nail was used [12].
