    Kakuda et al. [24] recently proposed a new histological staging and grading system for PBC that modernises the histological evaluation of fibrosis stage and necro-inflammatory activities in liver biopsies. Corpechot [25] pointed out that this new score appears to be complex and that it is difficult to apply in clinical practice. Moreover, stage 4 of this histological score includes cirrhosis and pre-cirrhotic hepatic fibrosis.
