  • Genetic polymorphisms of 20 autosomal STR loci in the Han population of Zhangzhou City, Southeastern China

    2020, Legal Medicine
    Citation Excerpt :

It was possibly the false positive caused by random effects, since the vWA and FGA loci are located in the different chromosomes. In order to study the genetic relationship of the Zhangzhou Han population, the genotypes of the sample set were used to calculate the Reynold's genetic distance for the Zhangzhou Han population and other eleven published groups (Supplementary Table S3) reference [8–18]. The nearest genetic distance was observed with Xiamen Han (0.0002), followed by Hubei Han (0.0004), Jiangsu Han (0.0005), Liaoning Han (0.0008), Henan Han (0.0010), Guangdong Han (0.0010), China Hui (0.0017), Shanghai Han (0.0025), China Tibetan (0.0039), China Miao (0.0066), and China Uygur (0.0087).

  • Admixture and population structure in Mayas and Ladinos from Guatemala based on 15 STRs

2019, Forensic Science International: Genetics Supplement Series
    Citation Excerpt :

    We analyzed genotypes datasets for 15 STRs (Identifiler kit) of Guatemalan Ladinos (n = 130), and nine Mayan populations: Ixil (n = 172), Poqomchi (n = 100), Achi (n = 82), Qanjobal (n = 15), Poptí (n = 15) [6], Kaqchiquel (n = 50), Kiché (n = 50), Mam (n = 50) and Queqchi (n = 50) [4]. In addition, the following ancestral references were included for relationship and admixture analyses: European [7], African [8], and Asian [9] populations. Analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) was performed with Arlequin v3.11 [10].

  • Forensic parameters of 15 autosomal STRs (Identifiler™ kit) in three Mayan groups and one Mestizo population from Guatemala

    2019, Legal Medicine
    Citation Excerpt :

The combined PD and PE of the 15 STRs in the four Guatemalan populations were >0.99999999 and >0.999984, respectively. Genetic relationship of the studied Guatemalan populations, including Mexican Native-Americans (Mayas), Mexican-Mestizos [12,13], European, African, and Asian populations [14–16] were analyzed (Table S5). Genetic distances were graphically represented in a Neighbor-joining (NJ) tree defining the following three main population branches indicated for discussion purposes (Fig. 1a): 1) Mestizo populations from Mexico and Guatemala; 2) Mexican-Mayan groups; and 3) Guatemalan-Mayan groups.
