The pathogenesis for vitiligo has not been fully clarified. A recent study suggested important interplay between locally infiltrated Th17 cells and the inhibition of melanocyte activity, and destruction through Th17-related cytokines such as IL-1β, IL-6, IL-17A and TNF-α [1]. Th17 cells develop in the presence of IL-6 and TGF-β from naïve T cells and IL-6 can stimulates the phosphorylation of STAT3 (signal transducer and activator of transcription 3) which contributes to keratinocyte
