    Literature exclusion criteria include: (1) the type of literature is not a case report; (2) Duplicate literatures, review, mechanistic studies, animal studies and articles for which the full text was not available; (3) The literature with incomplete clinical data that is difficult to analyze clinical characteristics. A total of 47 patients from 35 studies were included in this study, they consisted of 28 case reports8–34 and 7 case series35–41 (Fig. 1). There are 40 male and 7 female (Table 1).

    To further elucidate the clinical characteristics and radiological features of DIEP, we searched PubMed MEDLINE and databases operated by the Japan Medical Abstracts Society (www.jamas.or.jp) using the phrase “daptomycin eosinophilic pneumonia” and identified studies published between January 2007 and July 2016. A total of 26 English or Japanese studies including 43 patients were identified [1–6,8–27]. Including the six patients described here, we analyzed a total of 49 patients with DIEP.

    After a 14-day course of daptomycin for methicillin-resistant S. aureus a 54-year-old man developed a fever and dry cough. He had a raised white blood cell count and an eosinophilia [198A]. A CT scan showed patchy infiltrates and peripheral opacities.
