Case report

A 42-year-old man presented with a 2-month history of right arm pain. Examination revealed swelling on the lateral aspect of the elbow, with a slight loss of full extension of the elbow. There was also weakness of the muscles of the elbow due to pain. The hand had full neuro-vascular function. No lymphadenopathy was identified in the antecubital fossa, the axilla, or the neck.

Plain radiographs showed a lytic lesion of the distal lateral humerus extending to the articular surface and with loss

Discussion

Reconstruction after a significant bone loss from tumor resections, trauma, or loosened prostheses can be challenging. Massive bone grafts have been in use for many years with various degrees of success.1, 6, 9, 12 Over time, the benefits, difficulties, and complications of allograft use have been published.2, 7, 10, 15

Extensive allograft, prosthetic, or allograft-prosthesis composite reconstructions are carried out at the elbow after significant post-traumatic arthritis or bone loss,
