2018, NeuropharmacologyCitation Excerpt :Further studies of the influence of GIF-0726-r on mitochondrial dynamics will shed light on the neuroprotective mechanism of GIF-0726-r. GIF-0726-r exhibited activation of the ARE that might contribute, at least in part, to the observed lower ROS levels in HT22 cells through the induction of ROS-reducing enzymes via the Keap1-Nrf2-ARE pathway (Satoh et al., 2008). The Keap1-Nrf2-ARE signaling pathway induces an adaptive response for oxidative stress that can otherwise lead to many inflammatory diseases, including cancer, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and diabetes (Magesh et al., 2012).
