Abstract

Historically, alternative psychotherapeutic procedures have flourishedworldwide in various inspirational, spiritualistic and shamanisticversions. However, few investigations have described these interventionsin detail, or followed the clinical outcomes longitudinally. This presentreport is an ethnographic and clinical description of one particular Americanpractitioner‘s alternative method as it is used with middleclass clientele in several regions of the USA. Two case studies are presentedin detail while nine individual cases are qualitatively reviewed with onemonth and one year treatment outcomes reported. A condensed ethnobiographicalstudy of the practitioner‘s personal and professional life isincluded.
