Challenges and Updates in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Infective Endocarditis
2022, Current Problems in CardiologyRole of Fluorodeoxyglucose-PET in Interventional Radiology
2022, PET ClinicsDiagnosis and treatment of focal splenic lesions
2022, Journal of Visceral SurgeryCitation Excerpt :On MRI, it is hypo-intense in T1 and hyper-intense in T2 with peripheral enhancement when the lesion is encapsulated [1,2]. On PET/CT, splenic abscess is hypermetabolic [13], possibly due to the presence of activated leukocytes, high levels of cytokines and the presence of growth factors [26]. Treatment consists of IV antibiotic therapy and, depending on the size, on instrumental treatment (aspiration(s), and/or percutaneous radiological or endoscopic drainage) [27,28].
