Summary

The effects of Trigonella foenum-graecum seeds extracts can be summarized as follows:

  1. Both the water and alcoholic extracts produced stimulating effect on the non–pregnant guinea Pig uterus. This effect is markedly increased on pregnant guinea pig uterus.

  2. The water extract has a slight stimulating effect on the intestine and accelerate heart beats.

  3. The blood pressure and frequency of respiration of dogs remained unaffected after injections of Trigonella foenum-graecum seeds extracts.

The extracts may be used as oxytocic due to its higher stimulating effect on the uterus. They can also be used for stimulation of the intestine and heart.
