1874 berichtete Sir James Paget, englischer Chirurg und Pathologe, von 15 Patientinnen mit einem Ekzem-artigen Hautausschlag an Brustwarze und Warzenhof [1] . In allen Fällen war die chronische Hauterkrankung in der Folge mit einer malignen Neoplasie der Brust assoziiert. Ähnliche Hautveränderungen im bereich der Vulva wurden 15 Jahre später (1889) erstmals von Radcliffe Crocker beschrieben. Das hier vorgestellte Paget-Karzinom ist nicht zu verwechseln mit dem Paget-Syndrom (Osteodystrophia deformans), einer ebenfalls durch Paget beschriebenen Skeletterkrankung, die durch einen abnormen Knochenumbau gekennzeichnet ist.
