DEMOGRAPHICS n The hand is the most frequently injured body part; the ngertip is the most commonly injured
part of the hand.1,2
n Injuries are most common in males age 4-30 years. n They account for two thirds of hand injuries in children. n The middle finger is most commonly injured because of increased exposure distal to other digits.3
n Most injuries involve the nail bed and soft tissue of the ngertip.
