Abstract

In this regard, Frost’s (1990) multidimensional perfectionism scale, the SPA questionnaire of Hart et al. (1989) and the Cardinal’s (1997) stages of EBC scale were employed and applied to 229 female participants in physical fitness centers who conducted regular physical activity for at least 30 days. Pearson correlation coefficient, Kolmogrov-Smirnov, Mann-Whitney U and independent T test were used in data analysis. The findings showed that SPA and perfectionism mean score of the subjects were 31.87±8.02 and 111.50±12.91, respectively. There was a significant difference between subjects’ perfectionism (t=-1.754, P=0.002), and also between parental criticism subscales (z=-2.563, P=0.010); additionally, the organization (t=-1.459, P=0.025) among women led to both regular physical activities, each one in separation at the beginning, and sustainment levels of exercise behavior. Furthermore, there was a significant relationship between the SPA and perfectionism among the women with regular physical activities (r=0.185, P=0.015). Accordingly, it seems that regular physical activity affects medium perfectionism level and social physique anxiety.
