Abstract

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) and urothelial carcinoma of the upperurinary tract are not uncommon urological malignancies. Theirsimultaneous occurrence in a patient is, however, extraordinarilyrare. We report the case of a patient who underwent laparoscopicnephrectomy for suspected RCC. Preoperative imaging wassuspicious for renal pelvic involvement, which was confirmedupon bivalving the fresh specimen at the time of surgery, with thediscovery of a separate urothelium-based lesion. We discuss thisrare occurrence and our management approach.
