Zusammenfassung

Klinisches/methodisches Problem

Bei der Behandlung des benignen Prostatasyndroms (BPS) haben sich medikamentöse und operative Verfahren etabliert.

Radiologische Standardverfahren

Die Prostataarterienembolisation (PAE), die innovative, endovaskuläre Therapie des BPS hat das Potenzial, die Lücke zwischen diesen Verfahren zu schließen.

Leistungsfähigkeit

Die PAE gilt als sicher und nebenwirkungsarm. Die Effektivität der PAE ist bei mittelgroßen und großen Drüsen sowie intravesikalen Protrusionen belegt.

Bewertung

Der komplexe Wirkmechanismus der PAE hat das Potential, sowohl Beschwerden zu lindern, wie auch die Progression der Erkrankung zu hemmen.

Empfehlung für die Praxis

Daten über die langfristige therapeutische Effektivität fehlen derzeit.
