A 44-year-old man was referred for aphasia, focal seizures, left upper limb paresthesia and progressive cognitive decline. These symptoms were fluctuating and had been present for at least 1 year. The patient had no prior medical history. His treatment only consisted in valproic acid (1000 mg per day) that had been introduced to treat focal seizures. At admission, clinical examination revealed no motor or clear sensitive deficit despite his complaint of left upper limb paresthesia. The patient suffered from word-finding difficulties, but speech comprehension was preserved. The patient was not a native French speaker, hence cognitive functions were difficult to evaluate. He had no psychiatric symptoms at admission. General examination was normal. …
