Diagnosis of muscle disorders is often challenging and requires a meticulous comprehensive work-up. We describe a case of rapidly progressive oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD) misdiagnosed as critical illness myopathy (CIM) due to the aspecific nature of its main symptoms.
