Neugeborenenscreening auf Sichelzellkrankheit

Zusammenfassung

Eine nicht frühzeitig diagnostizierte Sichelzellkrankheit („sickle cell disease“, SCD) ist mit einem erheblichen Morbiditäts- und Mortalitätsrisiko im Säuglings- und Kleinkindalter verbunden. An erster Stelle sind lebensbedrohliche Komplikationen durch invasive Infektionen mit bekapselten Bakterien und plötzliche Verschlechterungen der Anämie zu nennen. In zahlreichen Ländern ist die SCD daher Zielkrankheit im Neugeborenenscreening (NBS), teilweise schon seit den frühen 1970er-Jahren. Der Gemeinsame Bundesausschuss (G-BA) hat am 20.11.2020 beschlossen, auch in Deutschland ein NBS auf SCD einzuführen. Dieser Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die Erkrankung, die Screeninglogistik, -methodik und die Konsequenzen, die sich aus einem positiven Befund ergeben.
