This issue of the journal carries a study on the implementation of WHO guidelines for feeding of low-birth weight (LBW) infants at first referral health facilities in India [1]. This study is based on guidelines suggested in a technical review published by the WHO in 2006 [2]. Consequent to that, the WHO has published guidelines for optimal feeding of LBW infants in 2011 [3]. The more recent guidelines also make additional specific recommendations for very low birth weight (VLBW) infants. It may therefore, be pertinent to review some of the important recommendations. …
