Rectal cancer surgery has many important technical considerations, including the significant challenges of operating within a confined space with limited visibility and maneuverability. These problems are accentuated in patients with an elevated body mass index, android pelvis, bulky tumor, enlarged prostate, and fibrosis following neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy.
