Zusammenfassung

Das häufigste neurologische Leitsymptom in der Notfallversorgung ist neben Schwindel der Kopfschmerz. Oft handelt es sich um harmlose primäre Kopfschmerzerkrankungen, z. T. vorbekannt mit akuter Schmerzexazerbation. Die wesentliche Herausforderung eines in der Primärversorgung tätigen Arztes (Notfallmediziner, Hausarzt etc.) ist es, die seltenen, z. T. lebensbedrohlichen Kopfschmerzsyndrome wie Subarachnoidalblutung, arterielle Dissektionen, Riesenzellarteriitis oder zerebrale Venenthrombosen zu erkennen und entsprechend zu behandeln.
