Zusammenfassung

Anfang 2017 ist die vierte Auflage der WHO-Klassifikation für Kopf‑/Hals-Tumoren erschienen, die die 2005 publizierte Vorgängerversion ablöst. Bemerkenswerterweise sind zahlreiche Änderungen bei den Kieferläsionen, die in der dritten Version eingeführt wurden, wieder revidiert worden, sodass in einigen Aspekten mehr Ähnlichkeit zur zweiten Auflage von 1992 besteht als zur dritten Version. Ein zentrales Ziel der Editoren war die weltweite Anwendbarkeit der Klassifikation, sodass molekularpathologische Erkenntnisse zwar dem aktuellen Kenntnisstand angepasst wurden, für die Diagnosestellung aber nicht zwingend erforderlich sind. Der Artikel diskutiert und kommentiert die wichtigsten Neuerungen der Klassifikation von Kieferläsionen.
