We read the Spear et al. article “One-stage augmentation combined with mastopexy: aesthetic results and patient satisfaction” [
1] with great enthusiasm. It was very interesting to read about objective results with respect to patient satisfaction with one-stage augmentation-mastopexy, which is a challenging operation for any plastic surgeon. We are grateful to Dr. Spear and his colleagues for their contributions to this topic. As Dr. Spear wrote in another article [
2], “when combining mastopexy and augmentation mammaplasty each operation makes the other more difficult and each operation increases the likelihood of complications from the other,” and he seemed pessimistic about one-stage augmentation-mastopexy. In the last article [
1], Spear et al. state that there is increased discussion in the literature but there were no references. There was another question about the aesthetic parameters they used; we have not encountered these parameters in the literature. …
