In the paper reported [
1], the hypothesis that ChatGPT4 (Open AI, LLC., San Francisco, California, USA.) can more accurately select the most favorable bariatric surgical technique compared to human experts is tested. Learning from its extensive training data sets, ChatGPT4 uses its advanced neural networks to consider the relevance and relationships of words and phrases in the user’s prompt to make accurate associations and predictions. Researchers need to understand that ChatGPT4 recognizes patterns but does not reason as it makes predictions of the next words in a sentence. Despite its documented weaknesses especially in evaluating ethical issues, bias, plagiarism, and data privacy, the potential for ChatGPT4 to aid in clinical decision-making is evident. While it has limitations compared to human experts, its advancements represent a promising stride towards improved medical decision-making. How artificial intelligence (AI) and ChatGPT4 will eventually contribute to surgical treatment in the future remains unclear. …
