When the senior members of your radiology department began their careers, books were strewn around every room, sometimes chained to tables and often celebrated when rediscovered in time to research an unusual finding. Today, nearly all that has been written is at our fingertips and every radiologist is just a few clicks away from a seminal article or an array of pertinent examples. But even with the availability of information in the electronic ether, putting images, patients and diseases in context is beyond simple “googling.” Despite the hype around artificial intelligence and machine learning there seems to be a role for a thoughtful radiologist.
