In einer schwedischen Geburtskohorte zeigte etwa jedes fünfte Kind in den ersten 30 Lebensmonaten eine funktionelle Obstipation. Die Studie liefert differenzierte Daten zu Stuhlfrequenz, -konsistenz, Risikofaktoren und Therapieverläufen und unterstreicht den Bedarf an langfristiger Betreuung.

Zu frühe Geburt – 10 IQ-Punkte weniger

Kommen Kinder zu früh oder mit sehr niedrigem Geburtsgewicht auf die Welt, hat dies oft kognitive Auswirkungen bis ins Erwachsenenalter: Der IQ bleibt niedriger, die Schulleistungen sind schlechter und der Förderbedarf ist höher als im Durchschnitt.

Dislozierte Radiusfraktur bei Kindern: Konservative Therapie im Aufwind!

Selbst stark dislozierte distale Radiusfrakturen heilen bei Kindern im Gipsverband offenbar ähnlich gut wie nach operativer Versorgung. Das legt eine randomisierte Studie aus Großbritannien nahe. Vorteile der konservativen Behandlung: weniger Komplikationen und deutlich geringere Kosten.
