Zusammenfassung

Die Polymyalgia rheumatica ist eine der häufigsten entzündlich-rheumatischen Erkrankungen. Die Mehrzahl der Patienten ist älter als 50 Jahre, der Haufigkeitsgipfel liegt bei 72 Jahren. Frauen sind doppelt so häufig betroffen wie Männer. Einige Patienten leiden gleichzeitig an einer Arteriitis temporalis beziehungsweise Riesenzellarteriitis.
