Zusammenfassung

Die Einführung der NIPT (nichtinvasive pränatale Tests bzw. nichtinvasiver pränataler Test) hat im Jahre 2012 in Deutschland eine neue Ära der Pränataldiagnostik eingeleitet: Mit einer Sicherheit von bis zu 99 % können Chromosomenaberrationen des kindlichen Genoms identifiziert werden. Diese bieten der Schwangeren eine risikoarme Alternative zu herkömmlichen invasiven Diagnostikmethoden und lassen sich relativ früh, schnell und sicher anwenden. Neben allem Enthusiasmus über den medizinischen Fortschritt weckt die generelle Verfügbarkeit der Tests kritische Stimmen und wirft Fragen auf, die neben einer gesellschaftlichen auch eine fachliche Auseinandersetzung mit der Thematik nötig machen.
