Zusammenfassung

Es existieren nur sehr wenige placebokontrollierte prospektive Studien, die eine antisuizidale Wirkung von Antidepressiva, Phasenprophylaktika und Neuroleptika direkt untersucht haben. Dies gilt nicht für Lithium, das in retrospektiven und einzelnen prospektiven Studien, einen deutlichen antisuizidalen Effekt zeigt. Die Pharmakotherapie der Suizidalität kann anhand empirischer Studien hinsichtlich ihrer Wirksamkeit, aber auch ihres eventuellen Gefährdungspotenzials beurteilt werden. In diesem Artikel wird auf die Akut- und Langzeitbehandlung von Patienten mit vornehmlich depressiven oder manisch-depressiven Störungen sowie Psychosen eingegangen.
