Zusammenfassung

Übergewicht und Adipositas sind heute sowohl medizinische als auch „Public Health“-Probleme:

Sie betreffen sehr viele Menschen.
Sie bedeuten ein hohes Risiko für nicht-übertragbare Erkrankungen, die Lebenserwartung der Betroffenen ist verkürzt.
Sie haben soziale Auswirkungen (Stigmatisierung und persönliche Benachteiligung der Betroffenen).
Sie verursachen Kosten für unser Gesundheitswesen.
Sie erregen öffentliche und auch politische Aufmerksamkeit.
