During recent years it has become obvious that the interest of urologists in the medical and metabolic aspects of stone disease is weak or non-existent. Accordingly rational risk-evaluation and efforts to prevent recurrent stone formation is carried out less frequently than desirable. This is mainly a side effect of the dramatic technical development for active stone removal that started in the 1970s and which has continued until the present day. …
