We read Professor Byard’s editorial on preventive pathology with great interest [1]. We agree with the statements he made and report on the interdisciplinary collaboration between trauma surgery and forensic medicine in Berlin. The “look over the edge of the dish” (as we say in Germany) in terms of interdisciplinary research is a key point for the future of forensic medicine. …
