Dr. Gerald A. Isenberg, is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Jefferson Medical College, Director of Undergraduate Education in the Department of Surgery, and Program Director of the Jefferson Colorectal Fellowship Program, Philadelphia, PA.

Gerry was born in New Hyde Park, NY, and attended Brandeis University for his undergraduate Cum Laude degree in Biology. He attended the Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York and completed his General Surgery Residency training at Lenox Hill Hospital, New York, NY. His colon and rectal surgery training was done at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, PA. After graduation, he spent 2 years on the Thomas Jefferson staff followed by 3 years in Long Beach, CA. He then returned to Philadelphia and advanced to his current positions.

Gerry is an active clinician, who regularly manages colorectal and anorectal diseases and teaches residents on a daily basis. He recently received the JMC Dean's Award for Mentorship. He is an active participant in multiple local and national surgical societies and serves as president of the Association of Program Directors of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He is also on several national committees of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. His contributions to the medical literature include 15 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 16 invited publications. Gerry has made multiple presentations at national meetings and has produced several medical films. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery.

Gerry, his wife Drucie, and children Halie, son-in-law Justin, and Matthew live in Penn Valley, PA. When not working, Gerry enjoys playing with his granddaughter Emma, walking his Portuguese Water dogs, swimming, and trying to relax with yoga.
